About

Four decades, one throughline

I've been writing software since 8-bit machines were the only machines — and I've never stopped learning the next thing.

Heyandy Labs is a one-person studio. The work started in the 1980s on 6502 assembly — counting cycles by hand and making the most of every byte. That habit of building things that are small, fast, and dependable never left.

Today the toolbox is modern: .NET, the cloud, and AI. The throughline is the same as it was on those early machines — understand the problem, then ship something genuinely useful.

That's what "Retro roots. Modern code." means here. Old-school discipline, current tools, real software.

Hand-written 6502 assembly on early home computers. Tight memory, no safety nets — the place where the fundamentals get learned properly.

THE LONG MIDDLE · the craft compounds

Decades of building

Languages, platforms, and paradigms came and went. Each one added to the toolkit; the instinct for clean, useful software kept compounding.

NOW · 2020s

Modern code

Cross-platform apps built with .NET, deployed to the cloud, and sharpened with AI. Same goal as 1983 — make something worth using.
